Advanced Summer Camp for students age 11-14
who show high promise and love mathematics

Staff & Faculty

TEACHER-PARTICIPANT

Imagine spending a month on a beautiful university campus in a beautiful town with professors and mathematics teachers who are experts at communicating their love of mathematics and problem solving. Imagine helping out at problem-solving sessions, attending lectures, and spending weekends hiking, touring, and engaging in vacation activities! See comments from teachers who have volunteered at the program.

You will be a full participant in faculty-staff activities. Indeed, because you work year round with with middle school kids, the rest of us will often seek your advice. Your one specific job at MathPath is helping with the MathCounts practice sessions at camp. However, you are encouraged to attend the many other sessions at MathPath, including talks given by world-famous mathematicians, and to participate in all social events and trips. So participating in MathPath can be a very broadening experience (you learn more mathematics and get new ideas about how to help very talented kids) as well as fun - the reason a teacher would take time in the summer to do this.

Like other faculty, you will receive travel plus room and board on campus. In addition, you will receive an honorarium of $1000. You will need to be present for the entire camp, plus a day or two at both ends. Preference will be given to applicants who have been training gifted students for national math contests for five years.

If you are not selected to volunteer, you may also opt to attend the summer program as a teacher-observer and pay a fee of $1750. The $1750 fee covers room and board at the university for four weeks, and your choice of activities at camp, including all field trips and outings. If you choose this option, you may also consider exploring outside opportunities and grants for reimbursement of the fees you pay. After the camp is over you will receive a Certificate of Completion as a Teacher-Observer.
